Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

How Does Multiple Sclerosis Occur?

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neurological disease that destroys the myelin in the central nervous system. This myelin is the substance that covers the nerves inside the brain and spinal cord. This substance helps the brain communicate with the muscles by transmitting the messages from the brain through the myelin in the spinal cord.

What are the MS symptoms?

Multiple sclerosis is sometimes called “the silent disease” because MS symptoms generally manifest without causing any pain or other obvious signs. Multiple sclerosis (MS) can progress rapidly and have a profound impact on the quality of life of the patients. Hence the reason why it’s very important do get a MS diagnosis should you have any early signs and symptoms.

The disability caused by this disease often causes multiple limitations in the patient’s daily activities. This disability may include difficulty walking, having poor balance and coordination, short-term memory loss, permanent nerve damage, severe headaches and stiff neck. In some cases, multiple sclerosis can also be quite aggressive and progress very quickly.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Treatment?

A major part of MS treatment is the use of medications such as multiple sclerosis drugs or interferon beta, an important medication used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. However, medications are only one part of the multiple sclerosis treatment processes.

Physiotherapy is essential in the management of multiple sclerosis after MS diagnosis. This therapy helps patients regain their normal strength, coordination and flexibility. It also improves the patient’s ability to perform physical tasks. Physical therapy is also used to help patients overcome their cognitive impairment, such as memory loss, short-term memory problems, and learning and concentration difficulties.

At Pillars of Wellness, we also provide the latest technology called the PoNS therapy™. More information HERE.
