Mari is an outgoing, thorough physiotherapist who has experience working in several rehabilitation facilities – both in private care and in-patient settings. Her areas of specialty include pelvic health for males and females, acupuncture and dry needling for the whole body, as well as manual therapy.
Mari graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from McMaster University in 2017 and also pursued her Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy at McMaster, graduating in 2019. While attending school, Mari spent a great amount of time working in the McMaster Children’s Hospital and at several private facilities around the Hamilton area gaining experience in rehabilitation and injury prevention.
Mari completed additional training in athletic taping, stroke assessment using the CMSA tool, as well as soft tissue release techniques. She is also working through her orthopedic levels within the Orthopedic Division and her concussion/vestibular specialty. Avid in learning more, Mari is always on the lookout for more courses.
Common conditions she has treated include:
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Sacroiliac dysfunction
- Shoulder pathologies (i.e. tendonitis, tears, impingement)
- Total joint replacements
- Sports injuries (i.e. runner’s knee, achilles pain)
- Pelvic pain
- Rectus Diastasis
- Pain with intercourse (dyspareunia)
Mari’s treatment approach is very individualized and patient-focused. She believes in incorporating hands-on treatment and exercise prescription to optimize the overall health of each patient. She enjoys working collaboratively with the other clinicians within Pillars of Wellness to ensure each patient feels that their sessions are valuable and effective.
In her spare time, Mari enjoys playing soccer, swimming, travelling and hot yoga. She has volunteered in many community programs focusing on spinal cord, multiple sclerosis, and cardiovascular rehabilitation and feels personal satisfaction when her contributions improve other’s health and long term well-being.
