Our Approach & What to Expect on Your First Visit
After you receive a diagnosis for your injury or condition from your family doctor, one of our physiotherapists will step in to assess and treat your injury using Orthopedic Therapy and/or range of motion (ROM) technique. Each of our patient will receive a customized treatment plan, built according to their needs.
Some therapies may include Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), dry or moist heat, ice therapy, as well as ultrasound to relieve acute or chronic pain. In addition, our physiotherapist may use hands-on modalities ranging from exercise, stretching, muscle/joint mobilization, therapeutic taping, to custom knee bracing.
Our approach is very collaborative, and client centered. Pillars of Wellness is an integrated care clinic offering other services than physiotherapy such as chiropractic care, occupational therapy, acupuncture, naturopathy, counselling, speech therapy and yoga therapy.
Initial Assessment
The initial assessment takes between 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the complexity. We recommend completing our online intake form prior to your appointment so your physiotherapist can be better prepared. It is ideal to be dressed in comfortable clothes as you may need to do some movements during the treatment phase.
Plan of Care
A plan of care or a treatment plan is a recommended approach by your physiotherapist after the initial assessment. Your physiotherapist may recommend a certain number of sessions. It is strongly recommended to complete your plan of care and follow any instructions for best results.
